Ordering Spokane Valley Death Certificates

There are three ways to get a Spokane Valley death certificate. You can go in person to the Spokane Regional Health District, send a mail request, or order online through VitalChek. In-person visits at the Spokane office are the fastest option when you need the record the same day.

Mail requests go to Spokane Regional Health District, 1101 W. College Ave., Spokane, WA 99201. Include a completed request form, a photocopy of your government-issued photo ID, documentation showing your relationship to the deceased, and a check or money order for $25 per certificate. Do not send cash or original documents. Processing time for mail orders varies, so allow at least a few weeks. Make the check payable to Spokane Regional Health District.

Online orders go through VitalChek. VitalChek is Washington State's only approved third-party vendor for vital records. Online processing typically takes 3 to 7 business days. The base fee is $25, plus VitalChek's service charge and any shipping fees you select. You can begin an online order through the health district's website at srhd.org.

To qualify for a certified death certificate, you must be a qualifying family member, legal representative, or have a documented legal need. Qualifying relationships under Washington State law include spouse or domestic partner, child, parent, stepparent, stepchild, sibling, grandparent, great-grandparent, grandchild, and others listed under RCW Chapter 70.58A. If you do not qualify, you can still request an informational copy, which anyone can get and which carries the same information but cannot be used for legal purposes.

Note: All fees are nonrefundable. This applies even if no matching record is found in the database.
